My name is Nicolaos Chrousis, and my relationship with the crypto world began several years before it became as popular as it is today.
My first serious encounter with Bitcoin was in 2016. At the time, cryptocurrencies were still something fairly unknown to the general public and, in Greece especially, there was very little information about them around. That is exactly what drew me in. I was not looking at just another investment asset, but at a technology and a whole ecosystem with the potential to change the way we understand ownership, transactions and the digital economy in general.
From that moment on I got more and more involved with blockchain and cryptocurrencies. Reading, research, conversations, experiments and countless hours inside the market were, in effect, my own education in the field.
From an interest to a community
I understood very early that what interested me most was not only the technology itself, but the people around it.
For me, crypto was never just charts, prices and trades. Behind every large ecosystem there is a community of people exchanging knowledge, ideas and experience. So I started taking a more active part in crypto communities, organising and joining discussions and workshops, and trying to bring more people into contact with Bitcoin and blockchain.
That love of community building has followed me through my entire professional life.
Along the way I created MetadudesX, a community born out of the need for a place where people who share an interest in crypto, Web3 and new technology can talk to each other, keep up to date and grow together.
I have also worked with and alongside a range of Web3 projects, gaining experience in community management, in growing communities, and more broadly in how a blockchain project can build real relationships with the people who support it.
My professional path in crypto
Over the years, something that started as a personal interest turned into a profession.
Today I work professionally in cryptocurrencies and Web3, and I have the chance to be even closer to the Greek crypto community through my role as Country Community Manager for Bybit EU in Greece, as well as a member of Bybit EU Growth Management.
It is a role that brings together several of the things I love most about this field: talking to people, building a strong community, educating others about crypto, and connecting an international ecosystem with the Greek market.
Alongside that, I had the honour of speaking at the Gen Z Summit, part of the Delphi Economic Forum, where I talked about cryptocurrencies, blockchain and the new technologies shaping the future of the digital economy. It was a particularly meaningful experience for me, because it gave me the chance to share knowledge and views about a field that moves at an extraordinary pace.
I have also spoken several times at major events and conferences in Greece, on the economy, cryptocurrencies, blockchain and new technology. Through those appearances I try to contribute to a more substantial conversation about the field, and to present crypto not only as an investment market but as part of a wider technological and economic shift.
Having watched the market move through bull markets, bear markets, enormous enthusiasm and hard periods too, the one thing I have learned is that this field never stops changing.
Projects appear and disappear. Technologies change. Narratives are born and forgotten.
What remains is the need to keep learning.
Beyond crypto
Although a large part of my life and my professional work revolves around crypto, there is a completely different side of me that I had wanted to explore for years: writing.
My love of fantasy literature eventually led me to create a world of my own and to publish my book «Ο Κόσμος των Νάνων: Η Πτώση των Θεών» (The World of the Dwarves: The Fall of the Gods), the first part of a story I have planned as a trilogy.
In a strange way, writing and Web3 have something in common for me: both are built on creating worlds and communities.
In one, you build an imaginary world through characters and stories. In the other, you take part in building new digital ecosystems that often start from nothing more than an idea and a group of people who believe in it.
What I want for the future
I do not really believe in fixed long-term destinations.
The field we work in changes so quickly that I think it matters more to stay open to new opportunities, to keep developing, and to try to be where you can genuinely create something of value.
I want to keep contributing to the growth of the crypto community in Greece, to work on projects I find interesting, and to help as many people as I can get to know blockchain beyond the noise, the speculation and the quick promises that so often come with this field.
At the same time, I want to keep developing my creative side, through writing and the worlds I build.
If I had to describe my path so far in one sentence, I would say that I have always been more interested in building than in simply watching.
Building communities, relationships, ideas, projects and now even entire imaginary worlds.
And it feels to me like this journey is still at its beginning.
