Today’s crypto coverage centers on two themes: interoperability infrastructure gaining institutional credibility and traditional assets being tokenised on public blockchains. ARK Invest’s Cathie Wood reiterated confidence in LayerZero’s cross-chain messaging, Pineapple Financial moved over $1 billion of mortgage loans onto Injective, and Binance founder Changpeng Zhao weighed in on YZi Labs’ recent portfolio moves.
Cathie Wood backs LayerZero’s cross-chain role
Cathie Wood, head of ARK Invest, said many investors underestimate LayerZero’s position in cross-blockchain messaging. Her comments reinforce an ARK report published on September 3 that estimated LayerZero’s interoperability business could generate nine-figure annual revenue. The report attributed $280 billion in total value transferred to LayerZero and said the protocol accounted for 44% of cross-chain transaction volume in the first half of 2026, versus 41% for Circle’s CCTP. ARK already holds positions in LayerZero and in its native token ZRO. At the time of the report, ZRO was trading near $1.04, down about 6% that day but up roughly 36% over the prior month.
Mortgage loans tokenised on Injective
Pineapple Financial transferred more than $1 billion of domestic mortgage loans onto the Injective blockchain, with a stated goal of eventually moving over 29,000 loans representing more than $10 billion in principal to the network. Each mortgage corresponds to an on-chain record linked back to the underlying file, containing over 500 data points per entry for verification and risk analysis. The number of active entries on-chain increased to 2,079 from 1,259 in December 2025. Pineapple’s ecosystem token, PAPL0, which tracks those listings, has a market capitalisation around $1.1 billion and has risen 48.2% over the past nine months. Pineapple also holds a $100 million treasury in Injective’s native token INJ, and Kraken is named as its primary validator.
Tokenisation of mortgages is an example of securitisation infrastructure moving onto blockchain networks. In general, tokenisation converts rights to an asset into a digital token that can be transferred and programmatically verified on-chain, enabling new workflows for settlement, custody and secondary trading while requiring robust links to off-chain documentation and compliance.
CZ defends YZi Labs’ investment timing
Binance founder Changpeng Zhao said recent investments made by YZi Labs will prove to be among the most profitable in its portfolio, noting they were made during the depths of the 2026 ‘crypto winter’ when Bitcoin had fallen 47% from its peak. YZi Labs, which manages over $10 billion for Zhao and Binance co-founder Yi He, led a $52 million funding round for robotics firm RoboForce in March and invested in custodian BitGo prior to its NYSE listing in January. Zhao did not disclose performance figures for the investments. The comment came amid prior governance friction over control of the BNB treasury company CEA Industries, a dispute that was resolved in June.
What these moves signal for institutional activity
Together, the items track a wider shift: institutional players and asset managers are increasing exposure to infrastructure that enables interoperability and the on-chain representation of real-world assets. ARK’s public estimates about LayerZero and the large-scale mortgage transfers to Injective both point to a focus on building rails that connect blockchains and move off-chain assets on-chain. Meanwhile, the commentary from prominent investors such as CZ reflects continued portfolio repositioning after the market drawdown earlier in 2026.
